International brands of design, creativity and innovation bring together the designers of the future
on March 22, 23 and 24
In a firm commitment to make new designers known nationally and internationally, Mallorca Design Day, a non-profit organization in Mallorca, celebrates its IV edition by rewarding the new promises of interior design, fashion and food design under the theme “Post-covid creativity”.
Sustainability and design have inaugurated the festival in a Design Talk moderated by Juan Mellen, president of the Design Institute of Spain (D!OS), in which Sandro Tothill, co-founder of LZF Lamps, National Design Award 2020, has intervened ; and Santiago Alorda, Team Leader North East of Vitra.
Mallorca stands as the meeting point for interior design, fashion and food design on March 22, 23 and 24, supporting new creators who have the opportunity to exhibit their collections to the general public, industry experts and media. In today’s event, held at World Light, Tothill has told the story of how his brand was formed, and has highlighted that LZF Lamps is committed to working with local crafts, thus opening a new door to a contemporary product and new environments.
Santiago Alorda, for his part, pointed out that at Vitra everything revolves around sustainable values and a culture that will last for many years., since all the products they design are durable over time and are made based on a circular economy. “Sustainability is going back to the origin,” Mellen said during the meeting.

Sustainability and diversity have been part of the foundations of the platform since its first edition, held in 2017 . Since then, one of the main criteria that the jury takes into account when evaluating the proposals of the different categories is the use of recycled and biodegradable materials, the local and circular economy, as well as, in the fashion category, having at least with a curvy look.
The event on Thursday 23 will start in Cosentino City with a Design Talk on “experiential architecture” by the prestigious architect Héctor Ruiz , CEO of Ruiz Velázquez architecture and design; and Emerio Arena , director of Room Magazine.
The program continues with the evening Design Talk that will take place in the Aquaquae showroom. The distinguished editor of ELLE Decor, Marta Rióperez, will talk with the famous architect and designer Ramón Esteve about the “new trends in interior design”.
