The Fashion and Technology Institute of New York (FIT) has just highlighted #mallorcadesignday and encourages young creators to participate. FIT recommends the Mallorcan fashion and design contest among all the competitions held internationally. On their website http://www.fitnyc.edu/academics/contests/external.php they comment that “with the work of the two previous editions, a great diffusion has been achieved so that, for a few days, the new designers, national, local and international, have a showcase to show their work and that through a contest they can promote their brand, being awarded the best collections, giving them a great media support. #mallorcadesignday has established itself as the only design and promotion event that has the institutional and business support of different sectors”.
FIT New York, created in 1944, is one of the most prestigious fashion schools in the world. This publication has led to many fashion and design students from the United States being interested in participating in this III edition of Mallorca Design Day, with many applications from NY and Rhode Island. “It is fantastic to have this recognition. International participation is being more important this year. The boost that FIT has given us is very important. We have been contacted by fashion and design students from the Rhode Island school interested in participating in this III edition of the contest”, says Raquel Arañón, director and creator of Mallorca Design Day.
The new creators have until 20 July to submit their proposals. The rules are published on the website www.mallorcadesignday.es. The third edition of Mallorca Design Day returns on 23 and 24 September after having been postponed due to the pandemic. The venue will be the city of Inca. In this third edition, for the first time, a national interior design award will be presented. Mallorca will become, for a few days, the meeting point for new emerging designers.
Mallorca Design Day has the support of ACME (Asociación de creadores de moda de España), the Design Institute of Spain, the Conselleria d’Educació, the Universitat de les Illes Balears, the Escola Superior d’Art i Disseny de les Illes Balears, the IDI (Institut d’Innovació i Indústria de les Illes Balears) and the Ayuntamiento de Inca.
