Interior design, fashion and food design will be the protagonists of the IV edition of Mallorca Design Day, to be held from March 22nd to 24th
The new talents of fashion, interior design and food design have an appointment: the IV edition of Mallorca Design Day. The design festival that rewards young promises already has a date, to be held on March 22, 23 and 24 in Palma and Inca, positioning the island of Mallorca as a benchmark for emerging national and Balearic design.
At a press conference held today at the Hotel Basilica in Palma, the director of the festival, Raquel Arañón, presented the new features of this fourth edition, whose theme is “creativity post covid”, together with Virgilio Moreno, Mayor of Inca; Lucía Escribano, Insular Director of Tourism Promotion of the Consell de Mallorca; Juan Mellen, president of the Design Institute of Spain; and Ariadna Salvador, designer and sweet designer at Ninumá. Mellen highlighted that “Mallorca Design Day is one of the five design festivals in Spain, placing Mallorca on the map as a reference. Design is Spain’s brand”.
The fourth edition of the contest will be held in different locations of international brands in Palma, such as Cosentino and Aquaquae, and in the Ramis Factory in Inca. National prizes will be awarded for interior design and fashion, which will have an economic contribution of €2,000 per category, as well as a runner-up prize of €800 for the best Balearic fashion collection to help run the collection presented on the catwalk. The jury, which will be announced before March, will be made up of recognized personalities within the design sector, such as representatives of ACME and specialized national press.
The Food Design is consolidated as a new category within the contest with a Balearic runner-up. This discipline values not only the creation of new dishes, but also packaging, spaces, objects and forms of presentation, fusing culinary skills, creativity and design.
Mallorca Design Day will feature this year a capsule collection designed exclusively for the occasion by Lis Domínguez, winner of the Fashion Design contest of the cultural program Art Jove 2022.

One of the most outstanding novelties of the festival has been the presentation of its new image, a logo that shows the evolution of the platform: a design in line with the trends and the development of the event itself.
During the festival there will be different cultural activities such as conferences, exhibitions, design talks, and fashion shows by leading guests from the design sector. The program will be announced in the months leading up to Mallorca Design Day.
Representatives of the city council of Palma and Inca have attended today the presentation of the IV edition of Mallorca Design Day together with members of the IDI and the general director of Tourism, María Isabel González Carrasco.
The festival is supported by ACME, the Association of Fashion Creators of Spain; the Ministry of Education and University of the Government of the Balearic Islands; the Ministry of Social Affairs and Sport; the Consell Insular de Turisme; the City Council of Palma; the Escola d’Art i Superior de Disseny de les Illes Baleares; the IDI, Institute of Innovation and Industry; the City Council of Inca and the FEHM, Hotel Business Federation of Mallorca.
