Who is who? 2023 Fashion Jury
Sunday was the deadline for entries for the national and Balearic fashion award, during the next few days the jury will meet to determine who are the winners of the fashion categories, but while we wait for the ruling, we present its members!
Modesto Lomba is a fashion designer, creator of the brand Devota & Lomba in 1986 with the architect Luis Devota, and president of the Association of Fashion Creators of Spain since 2000. Faithful defender of signature fashion, he has been supporting the emerging designers of Mallorca Design Day since the beginning of the festival, and we will be honored to have him present once again this year!
María Lafuente, ode to sustainable, ecological and solidary fashion. Her work stands out for introducing new materials in the world of fashion, in 2016 she presented the first dress created entirely with carbon fiber. It is a pleasure to have this great designer, who has been with us since the first edition of Mallorca Design Day!
Ulises Mérida, fashion designer with his own brand since 2012, won the L’Oréal Paris Award for Best Collection 2022. Among his facets, he is a stage costume designer and professor at different design and fashion schools such as IED, Vogue College or ESNE. He collaborates on a regular basis with different NGOs giving them the opportunity to train new professionals in the fashion industry. Welcome to the jury of Mallorca Design Day, we are delighted to have you with us!
Pablo Erroz is a fashion designer and advocate of sustainable production. His creations stand out for being unisex and timeless. In 2010 Erroz launches his own firm, while he was also creative director of Caramelo until the firm closed in 2016. Erroz has already accompanied us in several editions, and we are very happy that he repeats, it is for us a privilege!
David Alarcón, is editor of METAL Magazine and deputy director of ACERO Magazine, teacher at IED Madrid and IDEM, Institute of Styling and Fashion. He was part of the jury responsible for awarding the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Talent award in 2020, in addition to having taught master classes at schools such as IADE or Chamber of Commerce of Seville and at fairs such as MOMAD, International Exhibition of fashion, footwear and accessories. And now, new addition to the fashion jury of Mallorca Design Day! What an illusion, welcome!
Gabriel Mulet is communications and sustainability manager for Coca Cola European Partners in the Balearic Islands. Design lover and multidisciplinary artist, he has been part of the jury of Mallorca Design Day since the first edition, thank you for joining us in this IV edition!
Raquel Arañón, founder and director of Mallorca Design Day, stands out for promoting emerging design throughout her career. She has been working in the fashion world for more than 25 years in prestigious companies such as Grupo Zeta, Benetton, El Corte Inglés or C.P Company, among others; as a teacher training new designers in EASDIB and EDIB and has created exhibitions such as “Comete la Moda”, “Burbujas de Cine” and “Cassette Dressing”. In 2017 she gives life to the first edition of Mallorca Design Day, and so far!
