The Aquaquae showroom has become the headquarters of Mallorca Design Day, where the Design Talk on “new interior design trends” has been held
The new trends in interior design have been the subject of debate this afternoon at the IV edition of Mallorca Design Day. The festival has held a Design Talk based in the Aquaquae showroom, where Ramón Esteve, architect, designer and “great ambassador of Spanish design in the world” , has talked about the challenge of architecture today: feeling local while international, feel that we are part of the culture and environment of the place. The same is reflected in one of his current projects on the island of Mallorca, in Selva, where he works with the landscape and native materials such as marés.
The journalist and director of ELLE Decor, Marta Riopérez, has made a journey through the history of interior design in which he has highlighted that ” trends are a thing of the past, we have gone from form to substance. We have arrived at a way of living in which sustainability, energy efficiency and security. All that is above form.”
The director of Mallorca Design Day, Raquel Arañón, has presented the three finalist projects for the national interior design award : Less Homeless , Autopía and The Oasis. The IV edition of the contest has received a total of 30 proposals, tripling the number of the last edition, in which the prize in this category was added. Tomorrow, during the final gala of the festival, the name of the winner will be announced.
