Mallorca Design Day (MDD), the only design festival in Spain that rewards and showcases emerging talent in various creative disciplines, celebrates its 5th edition from 18 to 21 March 2025. With the slogan ‘Craft Intelligence’, the event fuses traditional craftsmanship with new technologies, highlighting the evolution of design in fashion, interior design and landscaping.

In this edition, MDD introduces for the first time the Honorary Awards, recognising the career and impact of three key figures in Spanish design:

Roberto Verino, Honorary Award in Fashion, for his contribution to Spanish fashion and his innovation in the sector.
Lazaro Rosa-Violán, Honorary Award in Interior Design, for his influence on interior architecture on an international level.
Tomás Alía, Honorary Craftsmanship Award, for his work in the promotion and preservation of Spanish craftsmanship.

Alongside these awards, MDD continues to support emerging talent with its National Awards. The Malaga designer Verónica Lagares González has been distinguished with the National Fashion Award for her collection Project Synthia, which explores the relationship between artificial intelligence and fashion. This national award has a cash prize of 2,000€.

The Balearic designers awarded runners-up prizes will receive 600€ each to develop their collections and present them on the festival’s catwalk:

  • Gemma Sintes Pons (Menorca) – ‘Múdate’: Inspired by the transformation and creation of a new identity with a Kafkaesque essence.
  • Aida María Quetglas Colom (Marratxí) – ‘Índigo’: A tribute to denim as a symbol of female empowerment and its evolution with artificial intelligence.
  • Milla Kaplan González (Palma, originally from Chile) – ‘Fragments’: A tribute to Rafael Tur Costa, capturing his artistic evolution in textures and colours.
Congratulations to the winners for their creativity and innovation in fashion!

On the other hand, in interior design, the finalists are Monica Rodriguez, Maria Belen Sanchez and Claudia Pérez, the day of the gala, will be announced the winner of the long awaited award. Meanwhile, the National Landscape Architecture Award is still open until 20 February.

The festival will culminate on 21 March with the grand gala at the emblematic Fàbrica Ramis in Inca (Mallorca), where the winning collections will be presented and prizes awarded. For four days, MDD will offer a full agenda with fashion shows, conferences, round tables and exhibitions, turning Mallorca into the epicentre of national and international design.

MDD has the backing of institutions and companies in the sector, consolidating itself as an essential event for professionals and design lovers.
